Nestling in the Teme Valley Martley Cricket Club have been entertaining visiting clubs since 1859, when we played at the old Crown Meadow. In recent years there has been a dramatic change in the way our club has become a community based organisation, catering for everyone in the village and surrounding area.
In 2024 we opened a brand new paviilion and bar called the Tap and Run.
In 2024 we celebrated our 165th anniversaryfor senior cricket , and our youth section was formed some years ago.We now offer All-Stars and Dyanamos cricket for the little ones, with the Jewry Field packed with players and parents on Friday nights.
We run several age group teams and the very successful Martley Mandarins ladies softball team, voted Worcestershire’s team of the season in 2019 in their very first season. In 2019 for the first time we had several of our young girls selected for Worcestershire County squads.
We now have more qualified coaches than ever before.
Our senior teams currently play in division three and division seven south of the Worcestershire County League, and our mid-week team are recent Worcester League champions.
We have regular Sunday friendly games, plus of course a host of youth cricket throughout the week.
The Mandarins have taken part in several tournaments, and we will host our own tournmanet in June..
We are very proud of the way we have developed our own players with the bulk of our senior teams made up of players who have come through the system.
We like to think we are a very sociable club, and welcome new players and indeed spectators. We have Quiz Night once a month in the winter, and a Race-Night each year, to raise club funds but also to keep us socially together when there is no cricket.
We have hosted Worcestershire CCC teams in 2023 and 2024, for beneficiaries Joe Leach and Ben Cox.
