MANDARINS CHARGE ON

MANDARINS REMAIN UNBEATEN

Having won the toss, Martley put Colwall into bat on what was a hot and sticky Sunday afternoon. Messers Ganderton and Basford kindly umpired and a record crowd looked on…along with Chairman Watt cutting down a hedge!

Colwall started well, with their first pair getting 24 runs (off the bat) in their 4 overs. Martley then upped their game, restricting the 2nd batting pair to 11 runs. Martley’s bowling and fielding was tight, with pair 3 scoring 23 runs and the final batting pair getting just 10. Martley’s bowling was solid, with the wind proving a slight challenge – we’re still giving away a few too many extras. Colwall finished on 282-4, the highest score against the Mandarins to date. Solid bowling performances all round: Hollie; 3-0-19-1, Louise: 3-0-14-1, Sara; 2-0-18-2, Charlie; 3-0-20-0, Alex: 1-0-5-0, Eleanor; 3-0-16-0, Kate; 1-0-10-0.

Colwall finished on 282-4.

Hayley Hayes and Kate Evans opened the batting for Martley, sensibly letting the extras do the scoring! Charlie West and Sara Payne went in second, quickly adding to the run rate, scoring 25 off the bat. Martley’s 3rd pairing were big hitters Eleanor Bufton and Hollie Somers. Combined, they added 52 runs off the bat to Martley’s total. Final pair, Alex Repton and Louise Mylles added another 26 runs to the Mandarins total, finishing on 353-2.

Another excellent performance from the Mandarins, who remain unbeaten, winning 5 from 5. Martley next play Hanley Castle at Jewry Field on Sunday 9th July, 2.00pm start – please come down and support us!
