SHOOTERS MOVE IN

Martey Cricket Club are very pleased to welcome two new teams to the Tap and Run, who have nothing to do with cricket.

With the Admiral Rodney temporarily closed, the men’s and women’s air gun teams have moved into the Pavilion for the winter.

They shoot every Thursday night, with one or the other at home. Although for the first match at the new venue it was the women at home to the men, not publishing the result.

They shoot in the Lord Ednam air rifle league which has been going for well over 100 years with eight other teams in the league.

Matches are played on Thursday evenings, and if anyone is interested in joining or just turning up to watch you are most welcome.

The bar will remain open as usual to everyone else on Thursday evenings.

Is Martley the only cricket club in the country to have a ladies air-rifle team shooting in their pavilion every week? Gives a whole new meaning to the summer shout of ‘good shot!’
